CRRS Rare Book of the Month

Beginning in January 2010, and every other month thereafter, this website will feature a different rare book from our rich and diverse collection of early imprints.

"The CRRS Rare Book of the Month" is the inspiration of CRRS Fellow and rare book scholar Scott Schofield (English, University of Toronto), who provides in each overview details of the authorship, contents, and print history of the work, as well as a discussion of the copy's binding, provenance and any other features of note.

Each entry, which begins with a "book dealer style" description, is accompanied by a series of digitized images with notes. "The CRRS Rare Book of the Month" is imagined as an interactive experiment: a place where users not only view and read about particular copies from our rare holdings, but also a place where they can share their expertise and offer comments and questions prompted by the descriptions and notes provided.

We welcome comments either directly on the CRRS Flickr site or by email to Scott Schofield.
